The photograph or drawing of Charles H. Amidon is not known to exist.

Charles Henry Amidon was born on May 28, 1830 at Readsboro, Vermont. His father, David Amidon, served as a captain in local militia. In the Vermont Year Book for 1828 he appears as a First Constable of Readsboro. In the Massachusetts State Census for 1855 David Amidon is recorder and a shoemaker. He was married to Bertha Dunbar and Charles was third of nine children in the family.

The family moved to Massachusetts in early 1850s. Charles married being only 22 years old to Louisa M. Yeomans of Ashfield, MA in 1852. The marriage didn't last long - Louisa died in 1854 in Greenfield, MA.
